A LEAGUE SESSION AT THE ATLANTIC CITY CONVENTION CENTER.....
For those interested in managing Business or Special Improvement Districts, NJMDA has prepared an informative session, “Building Local Management Capacity: The Case of Business Improvement Districts,” scheduled for Thursday, November 15, 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Room 313. Steve Weinstein, Mayor of Fair Lawn, will preside.
The session examines the development of BIDs regarding the merger of public and private community and business development techniques as well as the role of business district manager in the success of community and downtown revitalization and delivery service. The session focuses on management practices of BIDs in supporting effective public administration and community development.
NJMDA TRUSTEE NOMINATIONS FOR 2008 ARE INVITED.....
As NJMDA completes its second year of operation, the board invites those who share its mission of strengthening and developing the field and practice of district management, to consider service on the board of trustees governing the Association.
Those eligible for service are those individuals (1) serving as primary compensated chief administrative or executive officer of a managed district; (2) serving as a sitting trustee of a corporation or entity overseeing a managed district and (3) representing a municipality and so designated by that municipality, within which one or more managed districts is situated.
Self nominations are invited. All nominations should include the candidate's resume and a short description of their interest in the field of district management. All nominations should be sent to the NJMDA's e-mail: info@njmda.com no later than 5 p.m., December 31, 2007.
Once the nomination period has closed, the 2008 Nominating Committee, chaired by Robin Reenstra-Bryant, President, will meet to determine the slate of individuals to be presented to the Board for approval. Service would be effective March, 2008.
NJMDA SEEKS DIRECTOR.....
NJMDA seeks a part-time, outside contractor, to serve as its compensated director. The director will serve the trustees and officers in carrying out the mission of the Association to include working with our partners Rutgers University (certificate program) and the N.J. Business & Industry Association (legislative affairs), our sponsors, and over one hundred managed districts throughout New Jersey. Attendance at NJMDA monthly meetings is required, as is management and maintenance of web-based communications program and database. Expressions of interest, accompanied by a resume, may be sent by e-mail: info@njmda.com no later than 5 p.m. December 31, 2007.
